The inherit nature of police work creates a dangerous environment at times.
Since the formation of the Pensacola Police Department, 13 policeman have given their life in the line of duty. Each Spring, those officers are remembered with a local memorial service held at the Pensacola Police Department. During the same time of year, members of the Jim Billy Barnes Lodge attends the Florida FOP Law Enforcement Memorial. The lodge also sponsors members of the Pensacola Police Honor Guard to represent the lodge. The photograph to the right is members of the lodge at the 2011 memorial. Interested in attending the local memorial service? The memorial service is open to the public. Normally, about a week before the event the Chief of Police will release the specifics to the press. The Pensacola News Journal and WEAR TV3 normally broadcast the information to the public.
Below are the names of the Pensacola officers that have sacrificed their life for our community.
